Week 1 Reflections

This week I learned how to build a site, create a blog, and make a bookmark document.  When it came to creating the website, I learned how to set it up and design it.  I also learned how to add pictures, hyperlink, and attach files to the website.  When I created the blog I learned how to post a blog, and I also learned how to comment on other people's blog.  Along with making posts, I learned how to put videos in my blog site.  When I did the bookmark I learned how to make a print screen, so I could put an image of the website on the paper.

One of the ISTE standards I met while doing this week's assignments was standard four.  Standard four is Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility. One of the ways I met this standard was by doing the bookmark assignment to learn about some issues to be aware of while using technology.  Also, by making a website I am making a resource for people to use.  I also made sure to cite sources being used and creating hyperlinks to make sure to avoid copyright issues.  These examples can support the standard, Promote and Model Digital Citizenship and Responsibility.

I think that I would enjoy to use a website in my classroom in the future.  It would allow me to post useful tools for students and families to use.  It could also be a good place for parents to see what activities are going on in the classroom.  The website could also be used as a tool for parents to get to know me, so they feel secure leaving their child with me during the day.  I would also think it would be a good idea to use blogs in the classroom.  The students could interact with each other by using blogs on projects.  Also, I could use it to put videos and information I would like the students to know throughout the year.  The bookmark would be a good idea to give to students for a resource.  I could build bookmark pages based on what the area of study is, and then the students could use the websites based on the summaries to determine what would be best for them to look at.  Also, it would be a good resource for me to keep over the years to have websites I could use.
